Lately we’ve been making more of an effort to really slow our lives down and build in quality time to be together as a family. I’ve recently begun homeschooling for that reason. Had I enrolled my kids into public school this year I would have been picking up or dropping off a child SIX different times each day. I would have felt tethered to the house to make sure I could be there in time for each child.
As we prayed through just what we wanted for this season of life we knew some big changes were needed. There certainly have been many ups and downs learning to be a teacher, and the kids learning to be my “students” but there have been such sweet moments with the new freedoms we have to just pick up and go.
Our little family absolutely loves to be outside enjoying one another. We love taking day trips to parks and taking bike rides together. We love exploring and going new places…but the ocean is by far the fam favorite.
We often joke about what a production it can be to get us all ready and out of the house. Some days it feels like we pack up our whole home just to get out for the day! Looking for ways to make that process quicker and easier is constantly in our minds!
When I first saw these Rubbermaid® Balance™ Meal Kits I honestly thought selfishly that I would only use them for portioning out my personal meals. The lids have little pictures on each one that show what food group (fruits, vegetables, protein and grains) goes into each container to take the guesswork out of prepping healthy meals.
They are color coded, can even be microwaved for food that need to be heated and also have a carrying case that keeps everything together. I seriously want to go get 5 more of these kits just to have one for each day of the week!
Rubbermaid® Balance™ Meal Kits are brand new and can be found at Kroger and Fred Meyer stores. I knew going in to the store exactly what I was looking for and was thinking they might be difficult to find. I had the kids with me and told them we were on a “treasure hunt” to find them together.
We all started laughing when we saw them because we ended up finding an entire display of them on one of the closest end caps to the front door! (I’m sure people who saw us that day thought we were so funny as we all stood there cracking up at a meal kit display!) So much for our “treasure hunt”! It was far too easy to spot.
I told the kids that my new containers were only for mommy (which turned out to be a major #momfail – that did NOT go over so well) so we quickly came up with a fun fruit dip recipe that everyone would love and took our snack to the beach. OH and get this…the kit comes with a little booklet with 35 recipe and food ideas for what to pack in each container! #swoon
