Finding Strength in the Journey: My Health, Faith, and 1st Phorm Story
Hey friends! I wanted to take a moment to share a little more deeply about my journey—one that’s filled with fitness, family, faith, and a whole lot of unexpected turns. For those who’ve followed me for a while, you might remember that I used to be a fitness athlete for another brand. I loved that season of life so much! I poured my heart and soul into it. But as life often does, things took a wild turn when I became pregnant with my 6th child and we moved halfway across the country. Everything changed all at once and I couldn’t continue working.
My life got crazy busy, and it’s felt like I haven’t slowed down since. It’s been a whirlwind of challenges, setbacks, milestones, pain and growth, but God’s grace has been woven through every part of it. Looking back now, I see that He was preparing me for something new, something even more meaningful.
About two years ago, I started searching for a new supplement line to support my fitness goals. I tried countless brands, did my research, and finally, I found one that just loved–1st Phorm. I immediately loved their products, and I’ve been a paying customer ever since. About a year ago, I took the next step and became a Legionnaire with them. Why? Because I felt a deep desire to return to work I love and also share my journey publicly again—the good and the hard—with you all.
A Deeper Purpose for Health
My heart for prioritizing health goes far beyond what we see on the surface. It’s not just about looking good or hitting a certain weight goal–though those are wonderful, they would be far too shallow if it ended there. It’s about being a good steward of what we’ve been given. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we’re called to honor God with them:
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NIV)
To me, that means taking care of our physical health so we can show up in more meaningful ways for the people we love and for the responsibilities we’ve been entrusted with. It’s about increasing our capacity to serve others and faithfully, intentionally run the race that’s marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1). When we take care of ourselves, we’re better equipped to fulfill the purpose God has placed in our lives. And let’s be real here, this journey requires both physical and spiritual endurance!
Showing Up, Even in the Undone
Here’s the part I didn’t plan. I’ll be real with you—I wanted to show up here, in this space, after I had already met my goals. I wanted to come to you as someone who had arrived. I am such a sucker for the increble before/after photos and I wanted that too! But a dear friend recently challenged me with some powerful wisdom. She said, “Meg, that’s not you. Since when do you wait to show up until you’ve got it all figured out? Bring everyone in on the journey with you! Your strength is your vulnerability.” That hit me hard.
So here I am—still in progress, still figuring it all out, but showing up. I haven’t reached my final goals, and that’s okay. God’s been teaching me that sometimes, dare I say often, the journey is the most important part. And if my journey, in all its ups and downs and twists and turns, can encourage even one person, it’s worth sharing.
There’s a verse that always brings me back to this truth:
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9, NIV)
Sometimes, we just need to keep showing up, trusting that God is working even when we don’t see the results we want yet. This is a profound truth in the spiritual realm that we get to see/observe in the physical too.
An Invitation to Begin Again
If you’ve been putting off your health—whether it’s because life has been too busy, you’ve been overwhelmed, you’ve been through trauma as we have or maybe you just don’t know where to start—know this: You are not alone, and you are never too far gone. There is always hope when we take an honest assessment and decide to start right where we are. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to begin all over again. I completely understand how daunting that can be. And let me tell you, the mental game can be more intense than even the workouts at times! But God is with us, even in the restarts.
One of my favorite scriptures during times of new beginnings is Lamentations 3:22-23:
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NIV)
No matter how many times we fall, how challenging our days are, how sleepless our nights are, His mercies are new every morning. Each day is a fresh start, a new opportunity to honor God with our bodies, our minds, and our hearts.
Joining the 1st Phorm Family
So today, I’m officially claiming 1st Phorm as my own. This company isn’t full of people who have ‘arrived’ at their goals—they’re all on a journey, just like me, just like you. And I sincerely appreciate that. We’re all working towards being the best stewards of what we’ve been given, no matter what shape or size we are. If you’re curious about 1st Phorm or want to know what products I have used to sustain me on my journey, drop “FITNESS” in the comments below. I’d love to share more and support you however I can.
Let’s do this together. We’re all a work in progress, but with our priorities set toward what matters most and a community in support of one another, we can take those steps forward.
