I’m also a self-taught photographer, part time homeschooler, 22 year pastor wife, life coach, potty training expert, hair and fashion guru, Bible obsessed, people loving, ballet/sports mama, puppy parent, chicken keeper, sourdough baker, and official homemaker for my “little” family of 9. Yep, you read that right…nine!

A tiny bit of backstory:
I first began blogging back in 2015 as an “expression of art”, a way to be creative…
After our church, Mars Hill Huntington Beach, closed down, I began to write articles, geared toward moms, with a desire to strengthen women and communicate how the gospel truly does impact every part of our lives. My writing gained the attention of millions and my work has been seen on various platforms.
However, my family and I have walked through three very tumultuous years which meant my creative outlets needed to be put on hold. One thing I have learned through intense suffering: it’s meant to make us stronger. I now have more passion than ever for vulnerably sharing, courageously creating and deeply connecting in order to make much of Jesus…and being intentional about the “MATTERING THINGS”.

What Are The “Mattering Things”?

The mattering things, put plainly, are the things that matter most in life.
It’s setting our eyes on our last day, not just today.
It’s prioritizing people over production and considering others before self.
It’s about genuine authenticity, fearless vulnerability and keeping a sense of wonder.
It’s being faithful with the little, forgiving the wrong, and purposefully pressing into the hard.
It’s stewarding well what’s been entrusted, willfully rejecting apathy and choosing to live with passion and purpose.
It’s resting in the unwavering love of God, radical persistence in our love of others, and holding loosely everything else.
It’s stopping to notice the sunsets, pausing to smell the flowers, seeking beauty in all things…and adding twinkle lights wherever possible.
It’s finding humor in the unexpected, unwavering trust within the unknowns, and steadfast gratitude in garden AND in desert seasons.
It’s purposeful healing from the past, persistent peace with the present, and unshakable hope for the not-yet.
Most of all…”the mattering things” is knowing Jesus & inviting Him into every part of our lives as He transforms us more and more into his image. So, let’s not tarry, let’s not hesitate–let’s be intentional with this one life we’ve been gifted.
