My intentional break from all things social media

My intentional break from all things social media has been so so SO good for my heart...and speaking of hearts...Happy Valentines Day! ❤️
I keep praying and thinking through when to come back to sharing more regularly...and it’s just not time yet...but I couldn’t help sharing these cute little buns 🤩🥰😍

I’m just like so many of you where every year I

I’m just like so many of you where every year I try to pray through a word for the coming year. This year I was hoping for it to be something exciting or something that has the idea of being ready to move forward or accomplish something (and NOT be pregnant anymore!! Hahaha) ⁣
⁣
But as I prayed through it two words came to mind...and at first I kept thinking no, surely those can’t be it! Those aren’t exciting at all! 😆⁣
⁣
The first word is REST. And the second is RESET.⁣
⁣
Even though they kind of seem boring I really do know in my heart that’s exactly where I need to be. If I am going to have anything to offer anyone else or any ability to serve or create content that is a blessing to others and life giving for me it must come from a heart that is at rest. ⁣
⁣
These past couple of weeks have begun a massive reset in my heart. My kids have been sick with the flu (which is SO not fun) and we’ve had a few more visitors to finish off the holiday celebrations but in between I have used all of my spare time to listen to sermons, podcasts, pray and read.⁣
⁣
I’ve taken so many notes!!! And have so many thoughts! My brain is quick to dream and sometimes I have a hard time shutting it off, but more than ever my heart is convicted to be slower than ever to move forward...I know this time to rest must come first. ⁣
⁣
The lie I am tempted to believe is if I’m not continually present and active on social media I won’t have anyone here when I return...and that may be true. At least that’s what all the experts say...but instead I choose to believe this is a time to trust and that the Lord knows what He is doing with my heart and yours too for that matter! ⁣
⁣
If you have a word for the year I’d love to hear it! If there’s something you’re learning lately I’d love to hear that too! And although I’m not posting much lately I hope you’ll still be around when I return!

We played board games while watching my sister @mindymizell in NY!!!

This week we have intentionally shut things down.

This week we have intentionally shut things down. We are pursuing and enjoying slow. We are cherishing the small. We are scaling back, saying no to some very good things in order to focus on the best things. We are resting and resetting, relaxing and reorganizing...not the house, but our hearts.⁣
⁣
We are having the kinds of days that start making French toast at 10:30 am, that swings in the front yard in pajamas all afternoon, the kind that plays Monopoly on repeat and has a spontaneous dance party in the living room.⁣
⁣
We were made for relationships. With one another and with the Lord. And good relationships take time. They take intentional effort and a pace that allows for growth and oneness.⁣
⁣
Sometimes it feels like this kind of slow is harder than it should be. I know for us lately it would seem we have gotten so used to going and doing that when weeks like this come it’s almost like we don’t know what to do with ourselves. ⁣
⁣
But here’s the thing about love...love is incompatible with hurry. Because loves takes time, and hurry never has it. So this week our highest aim is to love one another. ⁣
⁣
Closing out the old year and preparing for the new year we are making space for what matters most. And I couldn’t encourage you enough to do the same.⁣
⁣
2020 is just around the corner! What’s one deeper, more mattering thing you will pursue spending time on this coming year? ⁣

⁣

We haven’t put away any of our Christmas decorations yet! I’ve thought about it numerous times, but then keep deciding I want to drag out the celebrating for as long as we can!⁣

Santa pancakes this morning! I totally forgot to add the white pom on his hat...but the kids didn’t notice! ;) I used Matt’s grandmothers china again! So you guys remember the story of it being passed down to me/us after her passing only to learn they had never been taken out of the box?? Trying to find every opportunity to not only remember her but use these beautiful place settings as I grieve the fact she never once used them. It reminds whenever I see them to cherish even the smallest of moments. Building in special memories means taking out the nicest of plates on even the simplest of days.
