MY NEW WEBSITE IS LAUNCHING ON EASTER MONDAY!!!!!! I cannot wait to show you all I’ve been working on! When my blog glitched out back in November I had planned to just fix the little problems and get it back up and running…but then I thought better of it. I decided instead that now is the time. Never before have I put this much effort into my online presence. I’ve been DREAMING of making my blog into a full blown website for years and years and it’s finally happened!!!!! I have been working on so many things for you all, freebies, products, links and helpful tools and have been revamping everything to serve you as best as I am able. All that’s mine is yours and I’m so excited to continue to grow in courage and share in this space. It’s not been easy doing all of this work behind the scenes. There’s been nights I wanted to throw my computer against the wall from frustration with the tech, full days juggling normal motherhood responsibilities while trying to keep the ball rolling, and days upon days spent driving back and forth to/from the Apple Store and my house to get my computer fixed (ended up not being able to and had to get a whole new computer)…but after all of these months it’s finally launch-ready!!! Stay tuned! And be on the lookout Monday morning!!! 🎉🎉🎉

I needed to hear this today…and my guess is you

I needed to hear this today…and my guess is you might as well. I’ve realized how often in life when one is going through something there are likely dozens of others who are either going through something similar or are going through entirely different circumstances and yet the feelings are the same. I truly believe are not as alone as we think we are—we just need to do a better job at letting others in and welcoming vulnerability for the sake of unity.

Our backyard feels magical and other worldly when the morning light first breaks…this view has been a reminder that His mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness never fails. Do you ever stay awake at night with thoughts that come like a freight train, somewhere around 3am…worries, concerns, regrets, fears, anxiety, sadness etc…?

At that dark hour the weight of the world feels heavy and overwhelming…but then when morning comes there’s a lightness, a fresh wind, a renewed spirit, a resolve to remain steadfast.

I read something yesterday I hope encourages you too: Paul mentions the fourteenth characteristic of agape love, telling us that love “…endureth all things.” The word “endureth” is the Greek word hupomeno. Hupo, which means under, and the word meno, which means to stay or to abide—compounded together, depicts the attitude of a person who is under a heavy load but refuses to surrender to defeat because he knows he is in his place. Because this person knows he is where he’s supposed to be, he has decided that regardless of what tries to come against him, he is going to stay put and refuse to move.

This means agape never quits or throws in the towel. Real agape says, “I’m committed to be here — to stay with you and to work it out, regardless of the cost or the time involved. I am not quitting. I am here to stay!”
You see, that is what the Bible means when it says love “…endureth all things.” This kind of love is completely contrary to the flesh, which says, “I’ve done all I’m going to do. I’m not wasting any more of my life. I’m finished, and I’m leaving!”

Friends, don’t quit, don’t give up, keep pressing on. You are loved with that kind of agape love that is new every single morning.

8 years ago I began a little blog as a side hobby and creative outlet to process the pain of our beloved Mars Hill Church|HB closing down.

7 years ago I had one of my blog posts go viral for the first time, which led to an invitation to speak publicly…something I had never EVER been open to doing. I much preferred the shadows and I hid that email for 2 weeks…so afraid, so terrified, never wanting to make much of myself or take a risk. I said yes anyway…and thus began the journey of courage.

5 years ago I spoke at my first women’s retreat—back to back sessions that didn’t leave much time for fear…and I can remember so clearly the beginnings of terror leaving me—only to be replaced so graciously with feelings of humbled, quiet gratitude. My “yes” becoming more brave.

2 years ago a man who’d never had a single conversation with me about the slow, gracious work the Lord had been doing to gently call me from the shadows alluded to an entire community that I was “chasing fame”….a nightmare of negativity with rippled ramifications that still linger to this day…

I felt so angry, sad, grossly misunderstood, demeaned, belittled, silenced, mischaracterized, slandered…BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD!

God used this terror to gift me a new courage that can only be found in Him…for if I survived my nightmare, what else am I afraid of?

The Psalms are a gift in the dark night…they bring light, comfort, reassurance, life and joy back into the shadows I much preferred to hide in: for it is in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

We were made for Coram Deo—to live before the face of God. This is a gentle reminder to do the thing that scares you. Press into the thing you are convinced you couldn’t, or wouldn’t, ever do. Lay down the fears, live with courage and face the giants. Set your face to His, bend your ear to hear His voice—The Lord will uphold you, He will not leave you…there is such beauty on the other side of bravery.
